Farmers Markets Personify the Very Best in Our Local Communities (2024)

Local farmers markets bring a true farm-to-table experience and flavor to local residents. Because products spend less time in transportation and on store shelves, food can be enjoyed at peak ripeness and freshness. With a variety of items you won’t find at grocery stores, farmers markets in the Princeton-Mercer region have become a hub of activity for locals and visitors hoping to discover unique and healthy options.

Farmers markets also tend to prioritize healthier, more sustainable operations while investing more money in our communities, all to the benefit of local families and businesses. Let’s take a look at some of the top farmers markets that have become such valuable resources to people across the region!

Robbinsville Farmers Market

The Robbinsville Township Farmers Market is a cherished gathering place for locals and visitors alike, embodying the essence of community and local commerce. Located in the heart of Robbinsville Township, the market offers a delightful array of fresh produce, artisanal crafts, delectable treats, and pet items. From fresh fruits and vegetables grown by nearby farmers, to vibrant flowers and household necessities, there's something to delight every shopper's senses.

The market not only provides a venue for supporting local businesses and enjoying high-quality, locally sourced products, but also fosters a sense of community among attendees with weekly events and activities appropriate for the entire family. Whether you're seeking the perfect ingredients for a home-cooked meal, unique gifts, or simply a pleasant Tuesday afternoon outing, the Robbinsville Farmers Market promises an enriching experience that celebrates the diversity and bounty of Mercer County. Weekly attractions also include family fun activities like Touch-a-Truck, bounce houses, and pet days.

Open for the season, the Robbinsville Farmers Market can be visited every Tuesday from July until September, between 3:30pm - 7:00pm at the Miry Run Recreation Area – 66 Sharon Road, Robbinsville.

Trenton Farmers Market

A farmer-owned cooperative since 1939 and located on Spruce Street in Lawrence since 1948, Trenton Farmers Market is New Jersey's oldest continuously running farmers market. West Windsor Community Farmers Market was voted the favorite market in the Northeast and fourth in the nation for 2022 in America’s Farm Market Celebration. Community groups and nonprofits have ongoing opportunities to partner with the market, and volunteers from Yes, We CAN! are on site twice a month to collect cash and food donations for Arm in Arm food pantries of Princeton and Trenton.

West Windsor Community Farmers Market is open every Saturday through Thanksgiving at the Princeton Junction Train Station, and the first and third Saturdays of the month from December through April.

The Princeton Farmers Market began in 2009 with the idea of bringing healthy, locally produced food and goods right into the center of Princeton. The goal is to build a vibrant community that supports local agriculture, small business, a healthier environment, and a more sustainable future.

Approximately 20 vendors are part of the Princeton Farmers Market community, offering fresh produce, baked goods, seasonal soups, handmade jewelry, personal care and household items, authentic Mediterranean, Italian, Middle Eastern, and North Indian foods, and more. The market is open Thursdays through November 21 at Hinds Plaza in Princeton.

Bordentown City Farmers Market

With local produce, homemade treats, local crafters, seasonal items, food trucks, and live music, the Bordentown City Farmers Market is filled with energy and activity. Their partnership with the Downtown Bordentown Business Association brings together local businesses, contractors, artisans, and hospitality professionals to create healthy, enjoyable experiences for the community.

The Bordentown City Farmers Market is open every Sunday through October at the Carslake Community Center on Crosswicks Street in Bordentown.

Hopewell Farmers Market

Hopewell Farmers Market was founded on the principle that local food matters. Supporting local farmers and artisans, Hopewell Farmers Market has partnered with family-owned farms and vendors in Hopewell for vegetables, pasture-raised beef, lamb, pork, and eggs, as well as fresh-cut flowers, herbs, organic baked goods, local honey, empanadas, jams, and more.

Occasional pop-up vendors add to the diversity and spirit of Hopewell Farmers Market, offering everything from coffee, wine, and spirits, to handmade children’s clothing and coconut wax candles. The market is open every Sunday through November 24 in the courtyard on East Broad Street between Antimo’s Italian Kitchen and PNC Bank.

The is proud to support the wonderful farmers market that serve our region. We encourage you to visit different farm markets and discover products and experiences that make our communities special!
