The incredible news from Einstein Medical School in the Bronx from Dr. Ruth Gottesman's historic $1 billion gift marks a monumental moment in medical education and research. https://lnkd.in/eqHFufZsReflecting on the journey, it's awe-inspiring to think that nearly 75 years ago, there was only 1 doctor in New York dedicated to studying muscle disease. Today, thanks to organizations like the Muscular Dystrophy Association building the field of neuromuscular medicine with our partners and community, and visionary philanthropists like Dr. Gottesman, we're witnessing a transformative shift. This significant contribution not only fuels groundbreaking research but also opens doors for aspiring medical minds, breaking down barriers to education and opportunity. With access to resources like MDA Care Centers, over 150 strong in our network, we're empowering individuals and families living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular diseases to lead longer, more independent lives. Together, we're rewriting the narrative of possibility and progress in healthcare. Here's to the future of medical innovation and compassionate care โ€“ being written today at the upcoming MDA Clinical & Scientific Conference (March 3-6) #MDAconference#MDA #MedicalInnovation #Philanthropy #CommunityImpact #AccessToEducation

I watched this video three times and I cried three times ... I asked myself why ๐Ÿค”Eventually, I think that this is because it conveys such an extraordinary message of - generosity- social inclusion- intergenerational solidarity- the power of education in creating self-empowerment and dignity- the multiplier effect of health-care workers on human health as a pre-requisite for well-being.We must strive to make these cases ordinary.Let's give our best to find the right recipe in every action for sustainable development! The people that we serve deserve it.system thinking , foresight, UN2.0, Madagascar Quintet of Change Lab

There are many reasons why you should invest in NMF, these are our top two:1. Advance excellence in medicineโ€”and a new generation of physician leaders.2. Deliver excellent care to ALL communities by building a more equitable health care system.Invest in NMF at notyourtypicaltuesday.org ๐ŸŒŸ Your gift to NMF helps build a new generation of health care leaders, who will bring excellence to all areas of medicine, clinical research, and public health.NMF has supported generations of leaders whose impact is felt today โ€” in medical practice, academic medicine, clinical research, and leadership of hospitals and other health care institutions.NMF supports Black, Indigenous, Latine, and People of Color medical students who are statistically more likely than others to practice in chronically underserved communities, and amplify the voices that currently exist, but are marginalized in our health care system.#InvestInNMF #HealthEquity #NMFCares #GivingTuesday

Many studies have shown that underrepresentation of diverse health professionals impacts the quality of care for chronically underserved populations. A historical mistrust in #HealthCare within those same communities and a lack of #CulturalCompetency continues to impact the quality of care that intentionally marginalized populations receive. This is a problem.During June of 2023, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned affirmative action, race-based college admissions, in the case of Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard. Many organizations, including NMF, are seeking new pathways to tackle the impact of this ruling and address underrepresentation in earlier school years. "The National Medical Association, an organization for Black physicians, is raising money for a new scholarship. The Association of American Medical Colleges will get involved in K-12 education for the first time." The time is now to increase #representation. "Experts say...the earliest years of education through medical school and beyond must be removed."Learn more at nmfonline.org about how you can get involved with NMF to create a more just and equitable world.
